Our Statement - The Discovery of the Mass Grave in Kamloops, BC.
As a member of the Cambridge Neighbourhood Organizations and a community center in the City of Cambridge, we acknowledge that we work on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Haudenosaunee people of Six Nations, which includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. This territory is the traditional land of the Neutral, Anishnaabeg, and Haudenosaunee Peoples.
We recognize the historic and ongoing traumas of colonization that have impacted Inuit, Métis, and First Nations Peoples. We are committed to the ongoing work of learning, accountability, and active allyship with Indigenous communities. As an organization, we stand in collective grief with Indigenous communities and honor their resilience and strength.
